About Own Your Birth

I'm Alex Cech, Founder of Own Your Birth.  I am a mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, Olympian, PhD biotechnologist, engineer, Healing Birth Practitioner, Principal Consultant, entrepreneur. 

My first son's birth, my husband and I approached with curiosity, what will it be like? Can we handle it? We attended some antenatal classes, picked my care team, backed myself and went in with an open mind. We ended up with a healthy baby, but both of us struggled to feel grateful and reconcile with the experience of birth, this new baby, my body, our new life. The new identity shift to parents was bumpy and after 6 months I felt guilty relief to be able to head back to my work. Readjusting to work as parents was not easy and filled with complex emotions, dreams pushed aside and many tears.

Since then we've had two more beautiful sons - proud parents of 3 boys - and I know we've cracked the code in the approach, planning and mindset in pregnancy, birth, recovery and back to work. 

This lived experience, along with my innovative, creative nature, strong background in science, knowledge in evidence-based care and passion for empowering birth experiences is what I am sharing in bringing Own Your Birth to you.
